Im usually a Sauvignon blanc drinker when I have a glass of white. I bought this for a change. Its very nice, not sweet like this used to be in the 70s/80s. Ill definitely have the odd bottle of this in the fridge amongst my Sauvignon!
My main memories are of 70s bad Reislings. However I notice they have had a resurgence and I decided to try this, already being familiar with Villa Maria as a brand. It has a very green apple taste, and is less sweet than some Reislings I have tried in the recent past. Really like it and will definitely buy again.
Tastes very boring
Ill admit my favourite wine is the now un-stocked Brancott Estate Sauvignon Gris, so I like a bit of punch, but I like a usually enjoy a Riesling too. This just felt like drinking water, nothing interesting about it at all.
We normally have the Villa Maria Marlborough Sauvignon but thought we would give the Riesling a go for a change, very glad we did, love the acidity, just ordered some more!
Probably one of the worst white wines I have tasted, extremely acidic - do not buy!
Great alternative to NZ sav blanc
Really love this. Great value when it's on offer. Makes a change from sav blanc. Easy drinking with or without food
