History
At Villiera we have an old, single bush vine vineyard with the weather station clone of Sauvignon Blanc. It has the ability to produce a unique, intense style that we felt was worthy of its own platform. The bush vine system is a traditional training method especially suited to unirrigated vineyards. The limited yield ensures early ripening.
Villiera Wines is home to the Pebbles Project which enriches the lives of thousands of children in the Winelands of the Western Cape by focusing on 5 key areas: Education, Health, Nutrition, Community and Protection.
Villiera is keenly aware that sustainable agricultural production rests on the principle that the needs of today must be achieved without compromising the needs of the future.
We maintain environmentally friendly vineyard practices and thanks to this holistic management of the vineyards, we can farm as naturally as possible without compromising the harvest.

Vinification details
Fully ripe grapes were handpicked. A small percentage
(± 1.5%) of botrytis is considered desirable and adds
further complexity. Picking occurred in the mornings
when conditions where cooler and the barrel fermented
Chenin Blanc comes from 3 blocks (2 trellised and 1
old bush vine block.) In 2022 the fruit was crushed and
destalked prior to ±4 hours of skin contact. After a light
pressing, the juice was settled overnight before being racked to barrels. Malolactic fermentation was prevented to retain freshness. After natural fermentation the wine remained in barrel for 10 months with regular batonage (stirring of lees). 26% of the barrels were new French oak and the balance 2nd and 3rd fill. Finally, after stabilization, the wine was bottled in December.
