Yummy sprinkled on bolognese or melted on toast +
Dont understand the bad reviews. Violife moz is delicious and the ingredients are quality.
Taste of oil
I'm not a vegan and would probably buy this if I was making pizza, rather than no cheese. I found it melted OK. If you have it on pizza with other strong ingredients like olives it's probably fine. But on a margarita, my child who can't have dairy at the moment refused to eat it due to it 'tasting funny'...the rest of us tried it and kind of agreed
pointless. doesnt melt
Know your audience, grated mozzarella is used for melting. It doesnt melt, even at 170 for 20 mins, not even a tiny bit melted.
A good substitute for the Mozzarella block
I really love the mozzarella violife block, but this is a reasonable substitute. The grated bits seem to be coated in something so they don't stick together, but the taste and function is pretty much the same. I think it melts really well, although you do have to apply heat.
Not sure that I\x27d buy this again
I wasn't expecting this to be like a dairy type mozerella but I found that it seemed to have a rather strange consistency when melted on pizza and unfortunely had that "coconut oil" type taste that many vegan cheeses have. If you need a dairy free mozerella type cheese it's worth a try but not sure that I will want to finish off the pack or try it again.
Dont understand the bad reviews
I have been reluctant to try this, based on the bad reviews, but Ive been pleasantly surprised. It melted well & tasted good on pizza as well as in a toastie - in fact it is now my go to for a simple cheese & tomato toastie that takes me back to my pre-vegan days of ordering these in a coffee shop. I think its an inoffensive, handy vegan offering that isnt professing to be a luxurious, gourmet option, but does well as a mozerella alternative.
