Aberdeen Angus fillet
Ordered a whole fillet. When it arrived it was huge. 1.69kg and I thought it may not be fillet but upon inspection realised it was. I was able to cut 10 steaks from the piece, used 4 and froze 6. Delicious - very good quality and guests were impressed. Only steak I ever buy.
Don't waste your time
I had to return the first product, Ocado organised a replacement, which was worst than the first one. It's a shame I cannot show pictures, but in short I ordered for a beef wellington and expected a single trimmed piece of fillet similar to the picture. What came was a badly butchered tail end which wasn't a single piece and instead tied with butchers string. Don't expect anything like the picture or anything you could use for beef wellington.
Thank you for you feedback. We are sorry to hear that the Aberdeen Angus fillet did not meet expectations. The fillet is made up of two separate ends, the fillet and the Chateaubriand. When you order a half we are unable to currently give the option of either end so you may receive one or the other. Let me confirm that both ends are premium cuts, well butchered and prepared for great eating quality. However, with the Chateaubriand, which you unfortunately received on both occasions, is stringed to keep the cut together. a very thin tail end of fillet - should not have been sold or delivered as the product described on the website.
Good value only at half price
This was good value because it was a flash buy. If I had wanted it for a beef wellington it was useless. Rather the shape in the picture one half was fine but the other half thick and full of sinew. I got 4 good steaks, a bag of medallions and trimmings for a stroganoff out of it. At full price no but at half price it was ok. If I wanted something like the picture I would not take the risk and would shop elsewhere, My recommendation to buy is only if its half price. At full price don;t.
Tied together and more like a big joint of meat than a fillet.
A really large fillet in width, but absolutely beautiful. Those who liked it cooked a bit better had the end bits. Oil and pepper, then sear 1 minute each side, then salt and pop in oven at 170 for 25-30 mins. Yummy.
