Lovely fresh green leeks. I steamed these and they were utterly divine. The bottom parts were relatively clean and the top green parts were sliced lengthwise, separated from each layer, soaked in hot water which removed all of the grit and dirt easily.
On opening the pack to prepare for Sunday lunch, one leek was rotten and slimy and had to be put straight into the compost bin. Very disappointing. Expected better from a Duchy product. I dont think Prince Charles would be too impressed with this kind of produce!
Have tried others both organic and non organic but always come back to these. They taste good and last exceptionally well in the fridge where others I have tried do not. Likewise their carrots, cauliflower and cabbage.
I used it in my barley "risotto", and to cook with wine, herbs and clams. Sweet, not too dirty like a lot of organic leeks one buys at the market, lovely product. Will definitely buy again. Only giving 4 stars because Ocado supplied slightly old one. I have bought this at Waitress before and the tips were nowhere near as dry as the one supplied by Ocado.
I presumed any Duchy product originated in the UK and I try to buy British where possible, so very disappointed to find these leeks come from the Netherlands. I stupidly presumed Duchy means from a Duchy farm owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
