love it
Medium bodied, fruity wine with hint of something I cant recall
Not good
A bit rough light bodied not like BZ I drank in Austria. Very disappointing
Proves the rule..
Wine producing countries keep the best for themselves. I've been lucky enough to drink Austrian red wines in my time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. OK you're never going to get a classic Bordeaux/Burgundy product but the locals enjoy easy drinking wines at a very affordable price point. This BZ whilst being quite smooth really lacked any character at all. I've avoided the one star review as encouragement to Ocado to continue to offer Austrian red wines.
An unusual wine
We tried a bottle of this medium-bodied Austrian red wine, while it was on promotion. The winery is a very large co-op, with nearly 1000 members. I found it quite hard to compare this with any other red wine, though in some ways it's perhaps nearest to Chianti in taste. While the ABV is relatively modest, the wine tastes and smells stronger than expected. We had it with a moussaka and it complemented that quite well. Worth a try when on offer if you like going off the well-beaten track, maybe.
Easy drinker
Bought as a change from my usual pinot noir, this is a similar easy drinker. Slightly spicy with a savoury finish. Will definitely buy again.
highly recommended
Zweigelt is my favourite red wine. dry with an amazing flavour, it goes well with everything , but especially with dark chocolate. what a treat!
