Subtle Taste
I used half for a stir fry.. does jazz things up . however its a bit too expensive.
Complete ripoff unless you want to pay for the jar
The blend is ok if a little too much cinnamon but that’s personal. It’s also half the size of Bart’s or Swartz (but I would stay away from the Swartz as the mix is inferior to Bart’s 5 spice). Freshly ground? Well probably but so is Bart’s at a quarter of the price and double the amount. Quality? Who knows, but In my opinion and I do a lot of cooking is that Bart’s is slightly better taste wise with stronger smell and flavour. Can only give this one star because it’s a complete rip off. If the price was £2 which is the maximum considering it’s only 20 gram then I would have given it 3 maybe 4 star.
Unbalanced mix...
Very heavy on the cinnamon side which makes it overpowering as a taste and also renders it slightly sweetish overall. Not getting the feeling of proper spicey elements when added... should have listened to other reviewers who said it's nothing special in particular considering the price.
Extortion
Cinnamon, Fennel, Ginger, Star Anise, Cloves. What could possibly be so special about these basic ingredients that makes them cost 6x more than Bart and 15 TIMES MORE than schwartz?? The Bart 5-spice has a rating of 4.2/5 - don't be gullible and fall for the nice jar. This is daylight robbery for a blend of basic spices.
Tasty... but the price?!
I gave this a go in a fried rice, initially double taking due to the price but being curious with all the great reviews. It was nice, but it just feels like a major rip off at £7! The jar is small and looks posh, but there is probably 8-10 teaspoons of the stuff in there!. If it were half the price I’d probably buy this for the rest of my life.
Very nice but expensive
In the jar, it is delightfully fragrant. In a dish, I couldn't really tell the difference from much cheaper product.
