Brand details
This wine originates from the gravelly sandy loam valley floor of Turckheim. In 2022, the crop was particularly small due to important losses during flowering and very small berries, consequence of a dry and hot summer. Usually, the oldest vines go into the Roche Roulée cuvée, but in 2022, both wines were blended together in a smaller cask. A high skin/juice ratio can explain the intense aromatic profile of this wine. The lack of water also slowed down the sugar ripeness. Despite waiting longer than usual, the sugar ripeness stayed low while the skins continued to ripen. This is the only Riesling that fermented quickly in 2022 and ended completely dry.

Winegrowers from father to son , the Humbrecht familly cultivates vineyards in Alsace since the early 17th century.
The domaine Zind Humbrecht was created in 1959 and is today located in the middle of the vineyards on the small town of Turckheim in middle Alsace.
Entirely certified organic/biodynamic since 1998, the 42ha domaine only produces wines from their own vineyards.

Serving suggestions
Pale yellow clear colour. The nose is delicately perfumed, Riesling can be quite flowery, and this wine shows it well. The lacy texture is already apparent on the nose, showing a medium intensity without the stony/mineral signature of more serious vineyard. The palate is immediately enjoyable: light, elegant, juicy, uncomplicated. It is a bone-dry wine with an easy drinkable mouthfeel. To be enjoyed now!
Vinification details
They emphasise expressing terroir (soil, aspect, microclimate) through minimal intervention: slow fermentations, lees aging, minimal manipulation, allowing the soil and site to come through.
The Riesling Turckheim from Zind-Humbrecht is made with hand-harvested grapes, gently whole-cluster pressed, and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in large old oak foudres, where fermentations can last for months at natural cellar temperatures. The wine then ages on its full lees in the same casks for 12–18 months without fining or chaptalisation, and with only minimal sulfur additions before bottling. This slow, low-intervention approach preserves purity of fruit, freshness, and a clear expression of Turckheim’s gravelly alluvial soils.
