
Apple Crumble Oat Bars

Oat bars are a snack staple and we love how convenient they are, but why not make your own? Get the kids involved and whip up these lower sugar versions of the classic, we’ve added some mixed seeds for a healthy boost too. Time and servings

Ingredients
- 4 tbsp golden caster sugar
- 3 tbsp runny honey
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- 300g oats
- 4 tbsp mixed seeds
- 2 small apples, 1 grated, 1 sliced
Method
Step 1
Line a 20 x 30 cm tin with baking paper. Heat the oven to 180C/ 160C fan/ gas 4.Step 2
Put the butter, sugar, honey and syrup into a large pan. Set over a low heat and gently melt.Step 3
Tip in the oats, seeds and mix until well combined. Remove a spoonful of the mixture and set aside. Add the grated apple to the mixture in the pan and stir again.Step 4
Spoon into the tin and press down, evenly top with the remaining apple and press down lightly.Step 5
Crumble over the remaining oat mixture and bake for 30-35 mins. Set on a wire rack to cool. Once cool, cut into even bars.
