Perk up a barbecue favourite with these Barbecued Old Bay Chicken Wings from Helen Graves, food writer and author of BBQ Days, BBQ Nights. “These are a doddle to throw together and they crisp up beautifully on the grill. Serve them with a creamy dip to compliment the spicing.” For another flavour-packed grilled chicken recipe, don’t miss Helen’s Barbecued Bloody Mary Spatchcock Chicken.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1kg chicken wings
  • 1 (200g) pot sour cream and chive dip, to serve (optional)
  • 1 (350g) pack celery sticks, to serve (optional)

Method

  • Step 1

Light a barbecue for indirect cooking. Combine the Old Bay Seasoning, garlic powder and paprika with a pinch of salt and pepper; toss through the chicken wings.
  • Step 2

Place the wings around the coals (not directly over) and grill for 30 mins or until cooked through, turning regularly and moving closer to the coals as they burn down.
  • Step 3

Serve the wings with the dip and celery sticks, if liked.
