Beef Stroganoff Pie with Creamy Greens

Craving all the slow-cooked flavours of a hearty stroganoff but don’t fancy sweating over the hob for hours? Then this recipe from M&S is for you. Using ready-made, unctuously soft slow-cooked British Beef Stroganoff as a speedy cheat, all you need to do is pop it in the oven and top it with a layer of flaky puff pastry. Sunday’s dinner has never been easier.

Ingredients

  • 749g pack M&S British Beef Stroganoff
  • 500g ready-rolled all butter puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 150g M&S Baby Leaf Greens, thinly sliced
  • 100ml double cream
  • 1 pinch grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch garlic granules

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat the oven to 200°C/ 180°C fan/ gas 6. Tip the beef stroganoff pouch into a large baking dish and stir, make sure the meat and sauce evenly cover the base.
  • Step 2

    Top with puff pastry and brush with the beaten egg then make a small cut in the top of the pie to allow any steam to escape. Bake for 40 mins, or until golden and puffed.
  • Step 3

    Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large-lidded frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the sliced greens and fry for 3-4 mins, until beginning to wilt.
  • Step 4

    Pour over the cream then add the nutmeg and garlic granules. Stir and simmer for 5 mins, until the greens are soft.
  • Step 5

    Serve the piping hot pie with creamed baby leaf greens and plenty of black pepper.
