Ingredients

8 total
  • 40 g of butter
  • 40 g of caster sugar
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 4 pears, cored and sliced into 1cm wedges
  • 150 g of blackberries
  • 230 g of ready rolled shortcrust pastry
  • 50 g of pecans, broken
  • 50 g of demerara sugar

Method

3 steps
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 190°C/170°C fan/gas 5. Put the butter, sugar and cinnamon in a frying pan and cook over a low heat to melt. Add the pear slices and cook over a medium heat for about 5 mins, until caramelised and syrupy. Leave to cool slightly, then mix in the blackberries.

  2. Step 2

Unroll the pasty onto a lined baking sheet and spoon the pear and blackberry mixture into the middle, leaving a 3cm edge. Top with the pecans, then fold over the edges of the pastry, crimping them a little, to encase the filling.

  3. Step 3

Sprinkle with demerara sugar and bake for 15-20 mins, until golden and oozing. Slice and serve with cream or ice cream.
