Ingredients

  • 2 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 500 g of doves farm organic plain wholemeal flour
  • 0.5 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of doves farm bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 tbsp of bran
  • 450 ml of milk

Method

  • Step 1

    Mix together the flour, salt, cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda.

  • Step 2

    Add just enough milk and mix into a soft, slightly sticky, dough.

  • Step 3

    Shape the dough into a ball and roll it in the bran.

  • Step 4

    Place the dough on an oiled baking tray.

  • Step 5

    Bake in a preheated oven at 220C/200C Fan/Gas 7 for 35-40 minutes.
