Distilled in the heart of Kentucky, Bulleit Bourbon originated in the 1830s and has an oak aroma and nutty taste, finished with a light toffee flavour. This Old Fashioned is made with a spiced sugar syrup that you can make at home and brings a subtle sweetness to the drink. It’s made from aromatic ingredients like clove, cinnamon, vanilla and orange zest.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml of bulleit bourbon
  • 1 handful of whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 large ice cube

Method

  • Step 1

    Start by making your syrup. Combine a handful of cloves, the star anise, two cinnamon sticks, and the vanilla in a bowl.

  • Step 2

    Zest your orange and add it to the mix.

  • Step 3

    Strain the syrup and pour it into a clean bottle.

  • Step 4

    In a mixing glass, add your bourbon and syrup and stir.

  • Step 5

    Pour the whisky mix over your ice to serve.
