Instead of cherries, use the same quantity of chopped apples, soft stone fruit, or berries.Cheat...Stoning cherries can take some time – use three 425g cans cherries when time is short. Time and servings

Ingredients
- 125 g of plain flour
- 125 g of ground almonds
- 50 g of caster sugar, plus 2tbsp
- 550 g of cherries, stoned
- 2 tbsp of apple juice
- 125 g of butter, cubed
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F/Gas 4). In a bowl, rub the butter into the flour and ground almonds with your fingertips until the mixture resembles rough breadcrumbs. Stir in the caster sugar. Place the cherries in the ovenproof freezerproof dish and scatter over the sugar and apple juice. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the cherries. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool completely, then wrap in foil, and freeze.Step 2
To serve, defrost in the refrigerator overnight. Warm through in an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F/Gas 4) for 30 minutes, or until hot and simmering.
