
Chestnut Hot Chocolate

Pure comfort and joy in a mug, this Chestnut Hot Chocolate from food writer and editor Caroline Morrish is a rich, dark, chocolatey treat, with puréed chestnut bringing a natural sweetness. To use up leftover chestnut purée, you could whisk it with sugar – and a little rum if you fancy – then fold into whipped cream for a special pud topping.Time and servings

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp chestnut purée
- 400ml whole milk
- 70g dark chocolate, chopped
- 75ml Irish cream liqueur (optional)
Method
Step 1
In a pan, gently heat the chestnut purée with a good splash of the milk, whisking by hand until smooth.Step 2
Whisk in the rest of the milk and heat until just starting to bubble. Add the dark chocolate and whisk until incorporated.Step 3
Add a slug of Irish cream liqueur, if you like, and divide between 2 or 3 mugs.
