Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 1.5kg large potatoes, peeled and very thinly slice
- 7 garlic cloves, diced
- 500ml double cream
- 200g Comté
Method
Step 1
Heat the oven to 170°C/ 150°C fan/ gas 3 ½. Butter a large baking dish and top with 2 layers of thinly sliced potatoes.Step 2
Sprinkle over some garlic, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper and repeat until you have used all the potatoes and garlic.Step 3
Evenly pour over the cream and sprinkle with comté then cover tightly with foil and set on a large-lipped baking sheet.Step 4
Cook for 1 hr 30 mins then remove the foil and cook for a further 30 mins, until cooked through golden and bubbling. Allow to stand for 5 mins before slicing to serve.
