Inspired by the flavours of spanakopita, these Creamed Spinach and Feta Twists by OcadoLife food editor Lauren Hoffman combine a rich, tangy filling with flaky puff pastry, plus a drizzle of honey and chilli flakes for a sweet, gentle heat. Easy to make but impressive to serve, they’re perfect for picnics or party food. If you don’t have an air fryer, simply bake in a preheated oven at 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6.

Ingredients

  • 1 (320g) sheet ready-made puff pastry
  • 150g creamed spinach
  • 1 nutmeg, for grating
  • 1 lemon, for zesting
  • 100g feta
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 (approx.) good pinches chilli or red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

  • Step 1

    Unroll the pastry sheet and spread one half with the creamed spinach. Grate over a little nutmeg and lemon zest, season with black pepper, then crumble over the feta.
  • Step 2

    Fold over the pastry sheet to cover the filling, then slice into 10 strips. Twist each strip, brush with beaten egg, then air-fry at 200°C for 20-25 mins until puffed and golden.
  • Step 3

    Immediately drizzle with the honey and scatter with chilli flakes if liked.
