Whether it’s brunch or dessert you’re after, this custard toast is the answer.This recipe is by TikTok creator @lockdowncuisine and features a simple custard made with creamy Greek yoghurt, egg, vanilla extract and maple syrup. The custard is spooned onto slices of brioche bread and baked topped with juicy strawberries and chocolate chips. Ingredients
- 5 tbsp of greek yoghurt
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp of maple syrup
- 0.5 tsp of vanilla extract
- 2 slices of brioche
- 5 strawberries, cut into small pieces
- 2 tsp of chocolate chips
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6. Line a baking tray with baking parchment and place the bread slices on the tray.Step 2
Make the custard by mixing together the yoghurt, egg, maple syrup and vanilla extract in a bowl using a fork.Step 3
Press down the centre of the bread slices with the back of a tablespoon to make a little well for the custard. Add the custard mixture to the well. Scatter the strawberries and chocolate chips over the custard.Step 4
Transfer the baking tray to the oven and bake for 8-10 mins until the custard is just set with a slight wobble remaining. Serve immediately.
