Doves Farm Heritage Wholegrain Flour is made up of a mixture of older wheat varieties.Soda bread is one of the easiest breads to make on an oven tray or in a tin.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of wholegrain flour, plus around 3 tbsp for dusting
  • 2 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 0.5 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of doves farm bicarbonate of soda
  • 450 ml of milk

Method

  • Step 1

    Mix together the flour, salt, cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda.
  • Step 2

    Add just enough milk to mix a soft, slightly sticky, dough. Shape the dough into a ball, dusting with a little extra flour if necessary.
  • Step 3

    Place the dough on an oiled baking tray.
  • Step 4

    Bake in a preheated oven at 180C/160 Fan/Gas 4 for 35-40 minutes.
