The ideal digestif to round off a celebratory meal with friends or family – when you’re too stuffed to eat another bite – this Fruit Cake Cocktail from bartender Ryan Sheehan, co-owner of London’s Lowcountry bar, is like pud in a mug. The base is lightly sweet, fruity and warming, and you can go as big on the cream and caramel toppings as you like.

Ingredients

  • 35ml bourbon whiskey
  • 25ml fino sherry
  • 5ml hazelnut liqueur
  • 1 generous swirl squirty cream
  • 1 drizzle salted caramel sauce

Method

  • Step 1

    Pour the bourbon, sherry and hazelnut liqueur into a mug or heatproof glass.
  • Step 2

    Add 100ml boiled water, leaving 1 cm space at the rim.
  • Step 3

    Top with a good swirl of squirty cream; finish with a drizzle of salted caramel sauce.
