
Gluten-free Sausage Rolls

These gluten-free sausage rolls are a brilliant picnic staple – and they’re super easy to make. Using pre-rolled puff pastry and gluten-free sausages infused with garlic and black pepper and decorated with black sesame seeds– they’re an all-round winner and the perfect picnic recipe.Time and servings

Ingredients
- 400 g of gluten-free sausages
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 320 g of gluten-free pre-rolled puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten, for glazing
- 2 tsp of black sesame seeds
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6. Squeeze the sausage meat out of the sausage casings into a mixing bowl. Add the garlic, ½ tsp salt and 1 tsp coarse black pepper and mix together well.Step 2
Unroll the pre-rolled pastry and cut in half lengthways (the longer side) down the middle of the sheet.Step 3
Divide the sausage mixture in half and mould each half into two long sausages. Place each one along the length of each pastry half, leaving 1cm on either side, then roll the pastry tightly around the sausage meat and brush one side with beaten egg to secure in place.Step 4
Cut into 2½ cm-wide pieces and place on a lined baking tray. Brush over some more of the beaten egg to glaze the sausage rolls, then sprinkle over the black sesame seeds.Step 5
Bake in the oven for 25 mins or until golden brown and the sausage meat is cooked through.Step 6
Leave to cool on a cooling rack for 10 mins, then serve with ketchup or chutney.
