Fancy getting crafty and whipping up some edible Christmas tree decorations? These cute trees make a fun display – they’re ideal for little children to decorate, and a treat to eat. We use pre-made cones to dip into thick green icing to make christmas cones and then decorate with skittles sweets to show off traditional Christmassy colours for ‘‘baubles, and desiccated coconut to remsmelbe snowflakes.Time and servings

Ingredients
- 4 ice-cream cones
- 1 cup of skittles (red and green)
- 250 g of icing sugar
- 1 dr oetker extra strong green food colouring gel (we used most of the tube)
- 2 tbsp of desiccated coconut
Method
Step 1
Measure out 2tbsp cold water. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl, then stir in the food colouring along with enough of the water to make a stiff icing paste. (Don’t make the icing too runny or you won’t be able to create a nice texture.)Step 2
Turn the ice-cream cones upside down and dip the open end in the green icing, then flip over and stick onto a festive plate or platter.Step 3
Spread the green icing all over the cones, using a small palette knife to rough up the surface a little and give the impression of branches. Stick the Skittles into the icing and sprinkle the coconut over the trees and onto the plate like a dusting of snow. Leave to set for 2 hrs before putting on display; discard after 1 week.
