Low ‘n’ Slow Chilli Con Carne

Take the hassle out of making a seriously tasty chilli con carne. Simply soften some red pepper and brown some chunks of braising steak before throwing everything into a pot over a low heat or a slow cooker. Cook for a minimum of 4 hours, but the longer the better. Cooking it all day on a very low heat will give the best results.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of gran luchito sauce
  • 400 g of beef braising steak
  • 1 red pepper
  • 300 g of red kidney beans
  • 180 g of basmati rice, to serve
  • 1 splash of olive oil
  • 1 sour cream, to serve (optional)
  • 1 dash of guacamole, to serve (optional)

Method

  • Step 1

    Chop the red pepper into small chunks.
  • Step 2

    Add a splash of oil to a large pan and fry the pepper for 3 minutes.
  • Step 3

    Move the pepper to the side of the pan and add the beef braising steak.
  • Step 4

    Fry for 5 minutes until the steak is brown all over. Stir occasionally.
  • Step 5

    Put the contents into large pot or slow cooker along with the kidney beans and a bottle of sauce.
  • Step 6

    Slow cook for around 4 hours until the meat can be easily pulled apart using two forks.
  • Step 7

    Serve with rice & top with sour cream, guacamole & a slice of corn bread.
