Ingredients
- 100 g of gruyere or nutty cheese
- 350 g of macaroni
- 2 leek
- 180 g of ham hock, (ready cooked)
- 280 g of cream cheese
- 100 ml of milk
- 1 tbsp of english mustard
- 50 g of breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp of oil
- 1 knob of butter
Method
Step 1
Preheat the grill to medium, and bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta for 8 minutes, or until just tender.Step 2
Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp of oil and a knob of butter in a large frying pan, and cook the leeks over a low heat for 5 minutes until wilted and tender.Step 3
Drain the pasta and add to the pan with the leeks. Stir in the ham hock, cream cheese, milk, mustard and about ¾ of the gruyère until well combined.Step 4
Season with salt and pepper and spoon into a large ovenproof dish.Step 5
Sprinkle over the breadcrumbs and the remaining gruyère, and grill for 8–10 minutes until golden and bubbling.Step 6
Serve with a salad of crisp winter greens.
