Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of shiraz
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 75 g of soft light brown sugar
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 sprinkle of grated nutmeg, (optional)

Method

  • Step 1

    Stud the orange slices with the cloves.
  • Step 2

    Put 2 glasses of wine into a saucepan with the sugar and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Step 3

    Add remaining wine, the clove-studded oranges, cinnamon sticks and grated nutmeg.
  • Step 4

    Heat gently until warmed through. Ladle into heat-proof glasses to serve.
