
No-fold dumplings

These crispy based dumplings are packed with a delicious gingery prawn filling. They couldn’t be easier to make, simply add a spoonful of filling into the centre of a gyoza wrapper then push the edges together to make a basket shape. Steamed until soft then fried for a crunchy base, these seriously hit the spot.

Ingredients
- 2 x 165g raw king prawns
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp Poon’s Chilli Vinegar, optional
- 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 4 salad onions, thinly sliced, plus extra to sprinkling, optional
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- 20 gyoza wrappers, defrosted
- 2 tbsp neutral oil
- 2 tbsp Poon’s tbsp chilli oil, for drizzling or dipping
- 1 tsp black sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
Method
Step 1
Put the prawns, egg, ponzu, ginger, sesame oil, salad onions and cornflour into a blender or mini chopped and whizz until it forms a slightly chunky paste.Step 2
Take 1 gyoza wrapper and set in your palm, add a heaped teaspoon of prawn mixture then squash up the edges of the wrapper and set aside, continue with the remaining wrappers and filling.Step 3
Heat a splash of oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add some dumplings, wrapper side down, and fry for 3 mins. Add 2 tbsp water then cover with a lid and steam for 6 mins, or until just cooked through. Remove the lid then keep frying until the base is crisp.Step 4
Sprinkle with the remaining salad onion, sesame seeds and chilli oil to serve.
