Ingredients

12 total
  • 2 x 165g raw king prawns
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp Poon’s Chilli Vinegar, optional
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 4 salad onions, thinly sliced, plus extra to sprinkling, optional
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 20 gyoza wrappers, defrosted
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 tbsp Poon’s tbsp chilli oil, for drizzling or dipping
  • 1 tsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds

Method

4 steps
  1. Step 1

Put the prawns, egg, ponzu, ginger, sesame oil, salad onions and cornflour into a blender or mini chopped and whizz until it forms a slightly chunky paste.

  2. Step 2

Take 1 gyoza wrapper and set in your palm, add a heaped teaspoon of prawn mixture then squash up the edges of the wrapper and set aside, continue with the remaining wrappers and filling.

  3. Step 3

Heat a splash of oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add some dumplings, wrapper side down, and fry for 3 mins. Add 2 tbsp water then cover with a lid and steam for 6 mins, or until just cooked through. Remove the lid then keep frying until the base is crisp.

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle with the remaining salad onion, sesame seeds and chilli oil to serve.
