Spaghetti Meatballs

A family favourite that's quick to make with a just few simple shortcuts. Make the most of ready-made ingredients when you're short on time and enjoy an easy weekday dinner – serve alongside a garlic baguette and crisp green salad, if you're hungry. Garnish with grated parmesan and a liberal grinding of fresh black pepper.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 12 meatballs(we used beef)
  • 1 jar of pasta sauce
  • 150 g of dried spaghetti
  • 50 g of baby spinach(optional)
  • 1 tbsp of parmesan, grated (optional)
  • 1 pinch of chilli flakes(optional)

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large pan. Fry the meatballs for 15-20 mins on a medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 2

    Add your chosen pasta sauce and simmer on a low heat, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, bring a pan of water to the boil. Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions.
  • Step 3

    Stir the spinach through the sauce just before serving, if using – the heat will wilt the leaves. Place the pasta in bowls or on plates, then spoon over the meatballs and sauce. Top with freshly grated parmesan and a pinch or two of chilli flakes (optional).
