Forget the seasonal drinks you find in coffeeshops, this frothy Spiced Pumpkin Latte is the real deal. Whipped up by chef, food writer and TV presenter Gizzi Erskine, it’s made with real pumpkin purée, a homemade spice mix and a dash of condensed milk for extra richness and sweetness. Ingredients

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp tinned or fresh pumpkin purée (or use butternut squash purée)
  • 30ml espresso or strong coffee
  • 50ml condensed milk
  • 250ml milk (any type)

Method

  • Step 1

    o make the pumpkin spice mix, combine the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and black pepper in a lidded jar (this will keep for up to 3 months).
  • Step 2

    Put the pumpkin purée in a large heatproof glass. Stir in ¼ tsp of the pumpkin spice mix and the coffee.
  • Step 3

    Heat the milks in a pan over a low heat until steaming; blend with a stick blender to get the mixture frothy. Pour into the glass, mixing; spoon over the froth. Finish with a pinch of pumpkin spice.
