Ingredients

  • 400g frozen fish pie mix
  • 1L (approx.) milk or water
  • 250g bechamel sauce
  • 300g frozen peas
  • 1 handful chopped chives (optional)
  • 65g cheddar, grated
  • 300g (approx.) frozen waffle fries

Method

  • Step 1

Preheat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas 7. Place the frozen fish pie mix in a large saucepan with enough milk or water to cover. Bring to the boil then reduce to a simmer and cook for 5 mins. Drain, reserving a splash of poaching liquid.
  • Step 2

Heat the bechamel sauce in a pan, then add the fish mix, along with the frozen peas, chives (if you like) and the grated cheddar. Stir until combined, adding a little poaching liquid to loosen, if needed. Season with black pepper.
  • Step 3

Transfer to a medium-size baking dish and cover evenly with the frozen waffle fries, filling gaps with broken bits from the bag. Bake in the oven for 20 mins, or until the fries are crisp. Leave to stand for 5 mins, then bring to the table.
