
Watercress & Pea Puree

Watercress is packed full of nutrients and is a great green to get into your baby’s diet in Springtime. It can be quite stringy though, so best whizzed up in a puree and goes beautifully with fresh or frozen peas. This puree is perfect for little ones who are 6 months or older. Time and servings

Ingredients
- 1 tsp of butter
- 1 tsp of olive oil
- 0.5 onion, peeled and chopped
- 1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
- 50 g of parsley
- 100 g of fresh watercress
- 200 g of frozen peas
- 1 piccolo vegetable stock cube, with 1 pint of boiling water
- 1 splash of full fat milk or cream
Method
Step 1
Heat the butter and olive oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic and fry gently until softened, around 3-4 minutes.Step 2
Add the watercress, peas, crumbled stock cube and boiling water.Step 3
Bring the mixture to the boil, then reduce the heat until the mixture is simmering and continue to simmer for three minutes, or until the peas are bright green and just tender.Step 4
Add the parsley, milk or cream and blend thoroughly with a hand blender.Step 5
Serve with a drizzle of olive oil for extra good fat for little ones.
