Our co-founder Driando was born in Indonesia, where Tempeh originates, and has been eating tempeh since he was a baby. At 18, he started studying food science and realised what an extraordinary food tempeh was. This led him to do a PhD in Tempeh Fermentation, exploring its positive impact on human health.

Elsewhere, the other co-founders, Chris, Elin and Fabio, were searching for Healthy and Sustainable Protein. Coming at it from different angles, they all found a common answer in tempeh. They couldn't believe that a food so simple could have a similar amount of protein to chicken and be good for your gut. Why wasn't this versatile wholefood more widely known and celebrated??

In 2019, the four founders set up Better Nature to spread the tempeh love. Fast-forward to 2025, and our team is as excited as ever to get more people to give chicken the night off and try our tempeh, aka Supercharged Protein
