Talking Tables - host it, love it

25 years of bringing people together
It was at her mother's kitchen table, Talking Tables founder Clare, 64, discovered her love of tablescaping and the joy of bringing people together.
Such was the appeal, in 1999 Clare later made the decision to give up the security of her successful corporate career in sales to launch Talking Tables, a premium business providing everything a host needs for a memorable gathering. Rather than turning to external investors for funding, Clare grew the business organically. To this day it's very much still a family owned and led business. This family focus has helped Clare deeply imbue her values across the business. Those values include a strong belief that people have a fundamental need to engage with each other. And that a business can prioritise people and the planet and be successful - Talking Tables is a certified B Corporation. Today the business has 68 employees across three countries and the brand can be found in the world's leading premium retailers including Selfridges and Barnes and Noble, as well as supplying the leading grocers including Ocado. And Clare's contribution to the giftware industry has been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Talking Tables' products are designed in house and everything is recyclable or reusable. From birthday, to Easter to Christmas; the emphasis is on products like napkins, balloons and candles that add fun to occasions that bring people together. Last year we produced over 6 million napkins - in Europe. The company has held a Forest Stewardship licence for 13 years, sourcing our paper from sustainability managed forests, and we work with the climate action platform Ecologi, offsetting napkin production with tree planting – more than 50 thousand to date.
Looking ahead to our next milestone birthday, the big 3-0, Clare's ambition is to be bringing the joys of gatherings to even more people, including expanding our community work with those with less opportunity to get-together, like the elderly. We call it community action powered by parties.
