THE MOST ICONIC CHAMPAGNE IN THE WORLD. Always the same, yet always different
Moet background

Dom Perignon Vintage 2002

Everything began in 1668, when the young monk Pierre Pérignon was appointed cellar master of the Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers, France. For forty-seven years, Dom Pierre Pérignon displayed his pioneering visionary and innovative talents to create the 'best wine in the world'. Three centuries later, Dom Pérignon pursues this spirit, creating vintage-only champagne. The perfect balance of black and white grapes, from only the very best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay parcels are chosen from any of the 17 Grand Crus, including the legendary Premier Cru, Hautvillers. The slow maturation, carefully controlled in the secrecy of the cellars, allows the wine to reach its optimum intensity. Aged for no fewer than 7 years, sometimes decades, Dom Pérignon achieves its unique style; vibrant, tactile and complex.

Dom Perigon is always a vintage

Each year, the Chef de Cave must create the same style using different grapes, which means that each vintage is a unique creation based on a unique assemblage. Each Dom Pérignon vintage is a balance between the expression of the Dom Pérignon style and the expression of that year. The commitment is highly risky because in some years no Dom Pérignon will be produced. In 1989 for instance, Dom Pérignon was one of the few houses that did not declare the Vintage because that year's wines were not considered vibrant enough.
