Bastides Petits Saucissons Secs 80g

"These are known as Salami Sweets in my house, where they are incredibly popular. I wouldn’t dare run out of them! There’s nothing sweet about these mini salami, I should add, but they’ve earned their name as they’re the size of boiled sweets and, when I first came across them, they came individually wrapped just like them. Now, more sensibly, they come loose in their little packets, and make an irresistible savoury snack. Whenever they’re on offer (which, thankfully, is often) I stock up on them greedily!" Love them
As someone who enjoys a bit of processed meat occasionally, I found these to be delicious! Had them as a nice addition to a cheeseboard for a drinks evening. Went down a treat! Yes theyre fatty and no theyre not healthy, but thats what you expected for saucisson!
Authentic \x26 filling
My family loves these little treats, reminds them to our time Bordeaux. They are authentic I would say (fatty, so not my favs, but if you like saucissons, go for it).
This product is just too confusing
Once at a party my friends dared me to eat a small selection of dog treats and I accepted the challenge. As soon as I opened the packet of these saucissons all the memories of the incident came flooding back. The aroma that hits you when you open the pack is like the dried pigs ears you get from the butchers and the (incredibly tough) consistency is reminiscent of Good Boy Chewy Porky Fillets. I did try one of these (I mean, I've tried Pedigree Markies before, so I thought I'd have a go with one of these despite the smell) but after chewing for more than a minute I was defeated and spat the congealed mess of grissle and fat out because I couldn't swallow it. One of the reviews below says you're supposed to cut the casing off, but it doesn't say this anywhere on the packet... in fact it says on the ingredients on here that the casing is edible! I'm so confused by this product, honestly.
Tasty
Great on a charcouterie/cheese board, perhaps if anything just a little small
These have changed...
I've bought these more or less once a week for over a year. They used to be beautiful chewy, traditional French mini sausages, perfectly spiced and salted. Now... they smell of mould and have a crunchy powder coating (they've always had the white powder, but it wasn't crunchy before). The flavour has also changed - less spiced / less flavoursome meat. What a shame.
Authentic
I like that its got texture and piquant taste. I buy this regularly
