Handy for DF/GF households
Yes this stuff is made of absolute junk but, if you have a child with loads of allergies like us, its a godsend for the occasional birthday cake. We tend to add some grated Lindt DF chocolate and everyone loves it.
brilliant for birthday cake
Its delicious! I made the gluten free Betty Crocker chocolate cake and this icing went very well with the cake. I loved that I could melt it in the microwave and pour over the top of cake and smooth the sides with it.
Easy to use
I used this icing to top and decorate an M&S cake (made from the M&S chocolate cake mix) and this was easy to use and had a nice chocolate flavour. It is really rich and indulgent. Very sweet, but every once in a while that is fine!
Gluten free and easy
Put with the GF cake mix, this was delicious. I Followed the instructions to paste some in the centre then put the remainder in the microwave for 30 seconds and poured over the top for an impressive mirror glaze. The cake was super light and not too sweet even with the icing. Might be cheating but if its not broken!
Yuck!
Awful taste of artificial sweetener and bitter after taste, binned, won't use again!
Tastes too synthetic
We’re clearly in the minority here but only my teenager enjoyed this icing. We found it had a chemical after taste and wasn’t particularly chocolatey compared to the Waitrose one we used to get. It’s very convenient though and spreads easily so covers a cake well.
