Biona Organic Coconut Oil Cuisine offers all the benefits of cooking with coconut oil with none of the taste!
This oil is made by lightly steaming organic coconut oil to remove its distinctive flavour and aroma, making it an ideal odour-free oil for all kinds of cooking. Naturally saturated and free from trans-fatty acids. Coconut oil becomes liquid above 24°C.

Our coconuts are sourced from the tropical island of Sri Lanka. The farm where our coconut products are harvested is rich in biodiversity. The families that run the plantation own cattle, who roam freely and whose dung, along with the coconut husks, acts as a fertilizer for the many species of other plants growing in the surrounding areas.

excellent for high temp cooking

So much better for you than rapeseed oils and good for high temps when olive oil cant be used.

Excellent for cooking with tasteless healthy fats and reassuringly organic. A staple in this house.

Smells funny

OK, it doesn't smell strongly of coconut. But it definitely smells of something, and I don't enjoy the smell at all, I would rather have the coconut flavour to be honest. I'm unlikely to buy this again.

Gives off foul stench and smoke when heated

I don't know if I got a bad batch, but this coconut oil tastes like sick when heated above room temperature (e.g. melted in a jacket potato). I also tried baking with it and it gave off a foul smelling smoke which penetrated the whole house and lingered for many hours after. The only reason why I have given it 2 stars is that, at room temperature, it is fine for use as a spread on bread etc. I prefer it to vegan margarine because it hasn't got any palm fat in. But I will NEVER try to cook with this again!

Strange Taste

I usually buy the smaller jar which is a glass one. For some reason this larger jar didn't taste as nice and the consistency not as good. Shall switch back to the smaller glass jar in future.

please change to glass packaging!!

Such a shame that Biona - a trusted brand for good and wholesome food - uses plastic packaging on this product. Please change to glass, or if you can't, discontinue this size of product.
