Storage
Preparation and Usage
1. A) Cut across the top of the foil pouch to expose pad. B) Using the foil to hold the pad, slide the pad into the slot of the vapour plug. C) When replacing a used pad, inserting a fresh pad will push out the old one. Dispose of used pads safely without touching them directly. Always wash hands after replacing pads.
2. Connect to power supply with the nightlight at the bottom. When using the vapour plug with a pad inserted, do not leave the unit in the plug socket for more than 16 hours at a time. After 16 hours, unplug the unit for a few hours before using again. Replace the pad before next use. Do not disassemble unit or nightlight. Nightlight goes on when the light goes out. When nightlight burns out replace entire unit. Do not block airflow of vapour plug unit or light sensor on bottom. If the light sensor is blocked the nightlight will stay on.
3. Unplug the vapour plug when not in use.
To Insert a New Pad
Allow the unit to cool for 10 minutes. Open a refill pad as described above. Inserting a new pad will push out the old one.
Be careful whilst removing and inserting the new pads as the device contains hot surfaces.
Remove and discard the old pad to use the nightlight alone.
Use only Calpol® Vapour Plug Refill Pads with the Calpol® Vapour Plug & Nightlight.
Tips for Use:
- Allow 60-90 minutes for vapour to fill the room.
- Strength of vapour will vary depending on room size and ventilation.
- Vapour will be stronger, the closer the unit is to the user.

Disappointing
I fell for the marketing of this product and because all the 'mums' recommend it. After suffering with neverending colds this half term, I took the plunge and bought it out of desperation. I don't recommend it. It's very expensive for what it is and doesn't do much. It's under the Calpol brand which makes you think it's a safe and trusted product. There are so many warning on the packet about not touching the refills with your bare hands which was really off-putting. Despite the front of the pack telling me it contained lovely natural things like chamomile, lavender and menthol, the ingredients on the back tell a different story. It's full of fragrances and chemicals and it's harmful to aquatic life etc. I wouldn't have bought this had I read the packaging beforehand. And definitely wouldn't want it in a children's bedroom, which is what it's marketed for. The product has a very chemical smell, like an aerosol disinfectant. That being said it's also very weak and does nothing to diffuse 'vapours' around the room. To top it off, it doubles as a nightlight (why?), emitting this piercing bright blue light. It was a waste of my money!
Bright light, fire risk?
Great idea but the bright BLUE light is totally wrong for trying to get babies to sleep (increases melatonin) If you do give it a go please read the instructions carefully before you plug it in as it gets hot and could be a fire risk.
fab
used this for myself when i had a bad cold and i slept really well - sure the nightlight is blue and a little annoying but its a good product for clearing a stuffy nose at night.
full of harmful chemicals! avoid!
This sells itself as emitting natural aromatic oils, but it appears to basically contain 2 chemicals and is covered in warnings that it is severely harmful to aquatic life (landfill!). If you read down all the warnings, youll discover you cant even touch the refill pads. If Id realised, I never would have purchased it or the refills. Much better to buy a vaporiser and some natural essential oils. I cant believe I fell for the Johnson & Johnson marketing and now Ive got to get rid of the thing safely. Ps the blue light is a small but almost piercing very bright ice blue light. Surely that cant be good for sleeping?!
it's effective
So i was reading the reviews before I purchased it and I must say that the light is too annoying! It works though, it's quite strong, I had to unplug it couple of times in the night, but it was helping a lot to my one year old who had quite a bad cold and blocked nose. The light is so strong I had to cover it, I wish I'd find one of these without the light.
