Drinkable red
Definitely a mixed review of this wine. Personally I don't like an oak taste so this serves me well. I can happily have a glass or two with or without food.
Seems to have gone downhill
I gave this 5 stars back in 2016, but lately it's been pretty poor. Calvet's wines are a bit hit & miss, so either this has deteriorated or it's inconsistent. Either way there are better wines at this price.
Awful
Undrinkable. And I will drink pretty much any red wine from cheapo to fancy. This had a vile bitter aftertaste. I wonder if maybe it was off? But then I read other bad reviews. Avoid.
Great if you like a light, smooth red!
I really like this wine! It is on the lighter side, similar to a Pinot Noir, and very easy on the pallet.
Splendid
This was a very pleasurable drink. Not £20 a bottle, but certainly a very decent offering at this price. Thoroughly enjoyed with homemade breaded cheese and wood fired pizza. Will be adding a case to my cellar as an affordable treat. Definitely benefits from being allowed to air for a couple of hours, harsh if not. Strong berry flavours with a hint of spice. Heavy on the tannins, but smooth on the aftertaste.
Not even fit for Red Wine Vinegar.
I dont write reviews but this was shocking. Displays none of smooth mellow characteristics of Merlot whatsoever. Truly foul must have been cut with creosote. The worst glass of wine I can remember having in years. Makes one wonder if the wine buyer even tasted it and if they did.......
