Malbec - Red Argentinian Wine

Alamos Malbec displays dark cherry and blackberry flavours, with a long and lingering finish. This balanced and full-flavoured wine is excellent with grilled meats and vegetables.

Buyer's Notes:

About the wine: Excellent value and a great example of Argentinian malbec.

Notes: Alamos Malbec has a big powerful flavour and lovely bright cherry and blackberry aromas.

Drink with: This wine is best with food and is sublime with steak (it’s Argentinian after all). It’s also great with rich meat, burgers with relish, and full-flavoured chicken dishes – in fact, I think it goes perfectly with a chicken tikka.

Tasting Notes
A classically Argentine wine, our Alamos Malbec blends the deeply concentrated plum flavors of the country's signature variety - Malbec - with small portions of Syrah and Bonarda to add dark cherry and blackberry flavors. Well-integrated hints of brown spice and vanilla contribute layers of complexity. A full structure, firm tannins and a long finish make this Malbec unforgettable.
History
Alamos crafts quality wines from Argentina, offering the best of Mendoza's high altitude vineyards at an incredible value. Alamos grapes are grown at the foothills of the Andes Mountains at elevations of 3,000 to 5,000 feet, where intense sunlight, cool evening temperatures and mineral-rich irrigation from mountain snowmelt translate to rich wines with intense flavor characteristics.
Regional Information
Tucked under the massive shoulders of the Andes Mountains in west central Argentina, the province of Mendoza is renowned for housing some of the best winegrowing regions of Argentina. The character of Mendoza wines is forged in high altitude desert vineyards irrigated by mineral-rich snowmelt from glaciers and snowfields. Altitudes range from 1,000 feet to around 5,000 feet, where the foothills rise steeply toward the Andes' peaks. High altitude means cool temperatures and clear air, and clear air means more sunlight for building flavor in the grapes, helping to make Mendoza the source of Argentina's well-earned reputation for top quality, unique wines.

Better on second night

I bought this whilst on offer and wasn’t too keen on it the first night. It seemed a little sharp to me. Much better and softer on the second night, so I would say give it a good long time to breathe. Not sure I would pay full price.

Lovely malbec!

Really enjoyed this malbec - nice and smooth. Would probably have given it 5 stars if I'd bought it on offer like others have in the reviews

Decent Malbec

Smooth, very drinkable, mostly dark fruit, full bodied a little acidy, would be tempted to buy again
