Torrontés - White Argentinian Wine

Torrontés is unique to Argentina and has been called the country's signature white varietal. The Catena family sources Alamos Torrontes from the North West Argentina, home to some of the highest vineyards in the world;.
The intense mountain sunlight and pure snowmelt water of the Andes gives Alamos Torrontés its explosive floral aromatic character and bright citrus flavors. This crisp, refreshing wine is excellent with spicy empanadas and grilled fish.

Tasting Notes
A delightful expression of the high elevation Salta region, our Alamos Torrontés has bright floral aromas of orange and jasmine blossom. On the palate, this wine offers citrus and peach flavors that lead to a crisp finish.
History
Alamos crafts quality wines from Argentina, offering the best of Mendoza's high altitude vineyards at an incredible value. Alamos grapes are grown at the foothills of the Andes Mountains at elevations of 3,000 to 5,000 feet, where intense sunlight, cool evening temperatures and mineral-rich irrigation from mountain snowmelt translate to rich wines with intense flavor characteristics.
Regional Information
Tucked under the massive shoulders of the Andes Mountains in west central Argentina, the province of Mendoza is renowned for housing some of the best winegrowing regions of Argentina. The character of Mendoza wines is forged in high altitude desert vineyards irrigated by mineral-rich snowmelt from glaciers and snowfields. Altitudes range from 1,000 feet to around 5,000 feet, where the foothills rise steeply toward the Andes' peaks. High altitude means cool temperatures and clear air, and clear air means more sunlight for building flavor in the grapes, helping to make Mendoza the source of Argentina's well-earned reputation for top quality, unique wines.
Vinification Details
The grapes were vineyard selected and picked in February and beginning of March, prior to being pressed all clusters. The juice was cold settled and solids were removed before fermentation, which occurred in upright fermentors at 15/22 °C of temperature, during 20 days.

If you like Torrontes this is one for you

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but once you've had Torrontes in Argentina you know how it should taste and this is bang on for me.

Petrol

I love Torrontes but I'm afraid this is not to my liking. To my nose it has an almost smoky/oily/petrol-like smell. It doesn't taste any better either. There are much better Torrontes wines out there.

Not the best torrontes

Bit sharp and citrusy can other torrontes. Not the usual peachy aftertaste

My favourite white

I love this wine. I visited Salta in Argentina last year and acquired a taste for Torontes. This brand is excellent - clear, crisp and dry. I have bought a lot of this and my friends get very excited when I produce it.

Horrible

Tried a torrontes for the first time recently and really enjoyed it. This on the other hand was horrible, too sour.
