Why the seafood?

Contains molluscs! Allergy risk to me, which I didn't realise from the witty puntastic name of this tomato juice - but luckily I read the ingredients list.

Love this stuff!

As an expat Canadian, I am very grateful to Ocado for stocking this - it is an essential ingredient in that classic Canadian cocktail, the Bloody Caesar. If you're after a Bloody Mary, stick to tomato juice... And whilst we're on the subject of Bloody cocktails, I find a shot of nicely salty and dry Manzanilla sherry will lift your Caesar, or Mary, to hitherto unknown heights of deliciousness...

salty and not healthy

I did not check the ingredients properly. Only 30% is tomato juice and from concentrate . Very salty and junky taste .

Watery and Clammy

I love seafood flavours and I love bloody Marys, but I found this mixer really watery and the clam taste quite odd and off putting (almost sweet?!) - I think some people like it and are used to it, lots seem to have has ir before, but Id much rather have actual tomato juice, not from concentrate, and not with additional flavours which are. funky. I did throw it away, which I never normally do.

For the adventurous only, contains Clam Broth

The name should have given it away but there are a million different brands these days so you wouldn’t necessarily read to much into a brand on first presentation. Typing In Tomato Juice this is the 1st product on display, I would be using it to make Bloody Mary cocktails. My conception of this product was that it would be a mixture or a variety of different tomatoes to make a tomato juice, nowhere on the front of the bottle does it say Clams. There is however a small clam shell at the bottom of the graphic of the glass. The answer is in the name ‘Clamato’ is a neologism to combine the words Clam and Tomato. Anyway the problem is that if you are not used to adventurous tastes then you possibly will not enjoy something like this. I have read a bit more about Clamato and apparently this is very popular in California where bars serve cocktails such as a bloody Maria with Clamato as an ingredient and prawns (Or shrimp as they would say excuse my English). I’m not really enjoying my cocktail, in the back of my mind I am thinking that I have a seafood broth in my cocktail, I would however have no problem with a vanilla Bloody Mary cocktail (sans the shellfish broth) and a plate of shellfish tapas on a plate to go alongside it. I will say the Clamato is delicious but at the moment I would class it more as a Gazpacho or even just a cooking stock. Perhaps I need to become more adventurous. I will certainly buy this again because the flavours are very nice but perhaps not for making cocktails with. Possibly a hint of Tabasco and some prawns and this would be half the way to a delicious soup.

Reminds me of Canada

Had this for the first time on a skiing trip to Canada many years ago - and the flavour takes me right back! Theres nothing else quite like it on the market. Savoury, moorish and yummy. Good for a Bloody Mary but I like it as it is for breakfast!
