Good base
I rarely use these mixes on their own but as seasoned starting point to a bit of background flavour to my recipes.
the best
Ive been using this for years. The flavour is superb. I add chopped celery, an onion, a tin and a half of tomatoes, half a tin of Heinz baked beans, a green pepper and two tins of good quality kidney beans, rinsed and drained to a pound of mince (500g) Add a teaspoon of hot chilli powder for extra umph. I use 3% fat mince which I fry with the onions in a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. I mix the packet with the tomato juice with a bit of water added. You cannot go wrong. Its my favourite meal. I serve it with fusilli, which is a break from the norm, but try it! Wonderful. :)
Lovely chilli con carne mix
Delicious. Used to use a jar (and still do sometimes if short of time!) But the flavour from this is much better. Always like to have a packet in the cupboard. Delicious flavour.
have they changed this? really bland
had no flavour to it at all, ended up going back and adding all my own spices to add some flavour..
yuk
Bland horrid and tasted like wall paper paste I threw my dinner away couldn't stomach it - never again
Awful!
I always buy old el paso chili mix which makes a delicious, authentic flavourful chili con carne with a real depth of flavour. It wasn't available so tried this instead. Just awful! Sooooo bland, no flavour at all. Just tasted of the required added tin tomatoes. Needn't have bothered with the 'spice mix' Dreadful, don't bother with this.
