Preparation and Usage
For perfectly cooked beef, our head chef recommends: Topside: Heat oven to 200°C (fan 180°C)/Gas mk 6. Season, rubbing the fat with flour and dry mustard. Seal for 3-4 minutes in a hot pan. Roast for 20 minutes per 500g, plus a further 20 minutes. Baste well to keep it succulent and ensure the surface is thoroughly cooked. Cover and rest for 10-15 minutes before carving. Brisket & Silverside: Heat oil in a pan, season and seal joint for 3-4 minutes. Add beef stock to cover, plus seasonal vegetables, herbs or spices, Worcestershire sauce or red wine if you like. Bring to boil, skim off fat, cover with foil and place in the oven at 170°C (fan 150°C)/Gas mk 3, for 3 hours. Remove from liquid and rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Wash hands, knives and surfaces thoroughly before and after preparing raw meat. |

cooked as instructed and was very fatty and tough
was very upset as was a dinner for my daughter and meat was horrible. The dog enjoyed it
Good flavour but very fatty and tough
Not worth the price. Cooked well over 1 hour and was still chewy and tough.
Very tasty and tender.
First time buying this. Cooked according to instructions at 40mins high in the oven but then just cooked on lower temperature for 15mins. I let it rest covered in foil for at least 15 mins. My son wanted his medium rare so this turned out perfect. I prefer well done so I just let mine sit in the simmering gravy for a few seconds until it browned more. It was delicious melt in the mouth the only gristle was a little bit on the last piece. This fed four adults a good thick slice each and two children with some left over for next days dinner for two. Would buy again for sure.
Tough and lacking in flavour
The beef joint appeared appetising, but unfortunately, it turned out to be tough and lacking in flavour. It was our only beef joint option at the time, and now I understand why.
a bit too tough
Having ordered a few of these from Ocado over the year this was the worst - cooked the same way as all my other meat, 40 mins on roast in the air fryer - it was medium rare but super tough. The other ones available are much better (annoyingly the best one if the £50 fillet)
cooked as pot roast
Lovely tasty meat, hardly any fat. Very tender after 3 hours at 130C
