Not quite right
I've used other powdered egg whites that cook in scrambled eggs seemlessly. This doesn't hold well and doesn't taste very good. Can't tell you why, it appears to have something to do with the processing -- it doesn't look like other powered egg whites I've bought online. Tempted to bin what's left, but I'm guessing it'll do in a pinch for some recipes. Just buyer beware.
wow!!
so handy and I made a pavlova. no problems at all. just get past the first stage ie adding the water and from then they act like egg whites. didn't notice any strange smell either. I used to use dried egg white for icing and meringues years ago.
Great for meringues
I was sceptical about these but in fact they are easier and better than fresh egg whites. Made perfect meringues.
Buttercream
Best to use one sachet to set buttercream for crusting
Work Great
When first adding water it does look like a stodgy mess - but persevere. I use these for Swiss Meringue Buttercream and it turns out great once whisked. Liquid egg whites are easier to use, but the carton is so large I always waste some. These sachets last ages and you can use a small quantity.
How can anybody use this stuff?!
The smell was so repulsive that it put me off entirely. I'm sticking with good, old-fashioned egg whites.
