no vanilla taste
I think they forgot to put vanilla in the bottle .No taste of vanilla at all .Wouldnt recommend.
Great for icing and cream only
Yes, this is very mild but I prefer it for when a delicate vanilla flavour is required in things like icing as I find a real extract can easily overwhelm in that situation. I wouldnt use this for baked goods though, its not robust enough and a proper extract would be superior.
Disgusting chemical syrup
I am shocked and appalled this is classified as vanilla extract. This has the exact consistency of cough syrup and but is likely just corn syrup virtually no vanilla flavor. I was so surprised when I opened it and it had almost 0 vanilla smell to it that I thought it had long since expired years ago. Contacting ocado for a refund as this is flavorless chemical syrup. Spend the money on the real deal as this will break you recipes.
value for money
with vanilla prices rocketing, this is good value for money. Not a massively strong flavour in cakes admittedly but then the higher end £4 to £5 vanilla extract is too expensive to buy
Underwhelming
In over half a century of baking I've not come accross a vanilla extract with so little of the essential ingredient. The curiously slimy carrier for the vanilla is pretty odd and you need much more of this than the usual liquid extracts to do the same job.
gives great flavour
It is syrup based but i prefer that to alcohol. I find the vanilla extract excellent in cakes and icing, as well as cream. The alternative extracts are extremely expensive.
