Tasting Notes
Expressive tropical aromas tinged with capsicum open up to attractive Cape gooseberry, passionate fruit and green fig flavours balanced by a lively but gentle coated acidity that follows through to a beautiful fresh finish. |
History
The wine estate was built in 1920 and by 1947 the wine cellar was completed and a group of local farmers starting making wines under the Franschhoek Cellar name. In 2008, a return to private ownership saw Franschhoek Cellar move back to its roots in celebrating its heritage and focusing on creating varietal wines that reflect our unique South African terroir. Franschhoek is one of the truly great wine & food destinations in South Africa. |
Regional Information
Fruit is sourced from only the best vineyards and growers, from the best-suited regions for each variety to create distinctive fruit-driven wines. By selecting and sourcing grapes from the broad boundaries of the Cape winelands, we achieve consistent, high quality standards, vintage after vintage.

Vinification Details
Made in a reductive style excluding exposure to oxygen at all stages to diminish any loss of inherent grape aromas and flavours, with gentle prolonged cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks to ensure expressive fruit aromas. 4 months' lees contact encouraged richness and complexity on the palate. |

lovely little Sauvignon
It was a little bit more like a New Zealand Sauvignon blanc with its, green, straw, gooseberry taste. I found it quite pleasantly refreshing with interesting undertones and no unpleasant aftertaste.

Lovely
I believe the term is, "quaffable". An inoffensive drinking wine. Recommended pairing: a second glass.
