Product information

Probably the most popular and simple pasta shape in the world! Spaghetti originates in Naples, where Garofalo pasta is made. Spaghetti is the plural form of the Italian word spaghetto, meaning "thin string" or "twine. Traditionally, most spaghetti was 50 cm (20 in) long, but shorter lengths gained in popularity during the latter half of the 20th century.

Premium Italian pasta maker Garofalo has been making high quality pasta since 1789 in Gragnano near Naples, the birth place of pasta in Italy.

Garofalo has always been a reference point for the high quality of its product and production processes, made now even more effective thanks to the combination of technology and century long artisan know how.

Pasta is simply made with water and durum wheat semolina and you can't produce excellent pasta if the best wheat is not used. It is the quality and quantity of gluten present primarily that determines the quality of the wheat. Garofalo uses only high quality robust durum wheat in its signature pasta ranges.

Garofalo pasta is formed through a bronze die this method allows a little friction on the surface of the pasta, which becomes slightly rough and porous allowing the sauce to cling and be absorbed into the pasta giving a delightful eating experience!

On par with non\-whole wheat pastas

Whilst some whole wheat pastas are coarse and tasteless, that is not the case with this spaghetti. Great taste and consistency, almost on par with its non-whole wheat cousin. Will be buying again

An honest review

I eat A LOT of pasta. I LOVE pasta!! Usually Garofalo, De Cecco and Rummo. I had never tried whole wheat pasta but the reviews for this were so good with people saying that they preferred it or couldn't tell the difference so I bought some and tried it. It's pretty bad. Which is a shame. I wanted to like it. It reminds me of string. It's very skinny, and remains quite hard, even if you cook it beyond al dente. It doesn't hold sauce at all well. If there was nothing else and I was very hungry I would overcook it, smother it in too much sauce, disguise it with too much grated parmesan and then maybe it would be edible but the verdict is - it's not for me.

Nice, but costly

Very nice, but I think it is too expensive. There are other brands of organic spaghetti that are cheaper, but admittedly, this probably tastes better.

Good & has fibre

We swapped this so we have extra fibre rather than the white spag. We cant notice any difference as far as enjoyment is concerned, we thought it might ruin bolognaise but it def doesnt! Its so much better for you.
