Brand
Inheriting their fascinating experience, our brewing process has hardly changed over hundreds of years. It takes seven days to craft the perfect pint of Abbot Ale. Brewed for longer, the ale has masses of fruit character, malty richness and a superb hop balance.
So where does the name come from? Well, in 1951 we ran a competition to name a brand new beer we were brewing and offered a prize of £20 (a lot back then!) to anyone who could come up with our new brew's moniker. A local publican submitted the name of 'Abbot Ale', in keeping with the town's tradition and just like that our world famous beer was born!
BREWED FOR QUALITY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.
AN IRRESISTIBLE ALE WITH MASSES OF FRUIT CHARACTERS, A MALTY RICHNESS AND SUPERB HOP BALANCE. BREWED LONGER TO A UNIQUE RECIPE USING PALE, AMBER AND CRYSTAL, MALTS, MAKING IT THE FULL FLAVOURED, SMOOTH AND MATURE BEER IT IS TODAY. WHEN YOU'RE READY, YOU'LL FIND IT.

Great Ale
Has a dense tight frothy that settles to a lovely creamy head. Taste is good, just remember to remove from the fridge a few minutes before consuming to allow the flavours to develop.
Best Tasting Real Ale in a can
From pouring to sipping, a wonderful experience: a dense tight frothy head soon settles to a creamy top, which stays intact throughout your drinking your (nearly) pint. Unlike other reviews I did not receive my ale as a free sample, I purchased it during the recent pub closures as I always choose draught Abbot Ale in a pub, and did not expect the same 'real ale' experience out of a can - wrong! This is the real deal - the taste and full fruity mouth-feel are all present and satisfy my critical palette. Here's a tip for the authentic pub taste - don't over refrigerate these cans - by all means serve cool, at cellar temperatures, but not very cold like a lager or white wine, you will lose some aroma and taste. If you keep your cans in the fridge, I'd recommend removing them half an hour before enjoying their full tastiness (if you can wait that long!). Highly recommended.
Full Flavoured Ale
I am reviewing this product because I received a free sample from Ocado. Didn't think I was an ale drinker, very nice full flavoured ale. Put some in a steak and ale pie it was lovely and well received.
